Meanwhile, I stare at the blinking cursor like it’s taunting me.
The truth is, AI is like a really good karaoke machine. Hand it the lyrics (the prompt), and it’ll belt out a tune smoother than Sinatra. But if you just mumble “uh, write something about… business stuff,” you’ll get something about as inspiring as a microwave manual.
That’s where the illusion of my writing skill comes in. Because if I have any talent at all, it’s not writing—it’s training my AI to write like me. Sort of.
It’s like raising a child who only sort of listens. I say, “Write in my voice—bold, confident, slightly cheeky.” And it tries. Sometimes it nails it. Other times it comes back sounding like a motivational poster taped to a dentist’s office wall.
But here’s the trick: prompts are magic. A vague idea becomes a masterpiece if I just phrase it right. Suddenly, my AI channels my inner genius—except without the typos, caffeine jitters, and occasional bouts of imposter syndrome.
So yes, my AI writes better than I. Well, kind of. The secret is: it’s still me. My prompts, my quirks, my “please-don’t-sound-like-a-boring-LinkedIn-post” notes. AI might be the pen, but I’m the one yelling, “Use more ink!”
